Edmonton man dies in motorcycle crash near Morinville

EDMONTON – Investigators are trying to piece together the cause of crash Wednesday night that resulted in the death of an Edmonton man.

The 33-year-old man was trying to merge onto Highway 2 off Secondary Highway 642 near Morinville on his motorcycle, when he lost control and crashed into a ditch. RCMP and Emergency Services, including STARS Air Ambulance, were called to the scene at around 8:30 p.m.

The man died at the scene, despite efforts by responders.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but the condition of the road isn’t believed to be a factor.

This is the second fatal crash in the Capital Region in less than 24 hours. A 38-year-old man died Thursday morning after crashing his motorcycle into a parked car in west Edmonton. He was not wearing a helmet.
