Motorcycle driver sent to hospital after crash on Gateway Blvd.

EDMONTON — A major south Edmonton road was closed Monday morning after a collision involving a motorcycle.

Edmonton police said the single vehicle crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on Gateway Boulevard near 39 Avenue. The driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police shut down a section of the busy road while investigating the crash. Traffic was being re-directed through a motel parking lot, however police asked drivers to avoid the area.

The roadway was reopened by late Monday morning.
