2 dead, 3 injured in Highway 14 rollover near Biggar, Sask.

WATCH: Two lives were lost following a single vehicle rollover near the community of Biggar, Sask. Wednesday night. Wendy Winiewski says the town is reeling after this second fatal incident in less than a week.

BIGGAR, Sask. – A rollover in Saskatchewan has left two people dead and three others injured. The fatal crash happened Wednesday just before 10 p.m. on Highway 14 east of Biggar.

According to Mounties, a pickup truck was heading east when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the highway. The truck entered the ditch and then struck a highway approach, causing the driver to lose control. The truck then rolled more than once.

The driver of the truck, a 20-year-old man from Biggar, was declared dead at the scene. Police say he was wearing a seatbelt.

One passenger, a 19-year-old Biggar man, was also declared dead at the scene.

Their names have not been released.

Three women in the truck were taken to a Saskatoon hospital. One is listed in critical condition while the other two are listed as stable.

Police are still on the scene Thursday as they carry out their investigation into the cause of the fatal rollover.
