Vancouver couple thanks first responders who saved their lives 10 years ago

Ten years after a near-fatal car crash, a Vancouver couple finally had a chance to thank the firefighters who saved their lives.

The lives of Sarah Revill and Micah Reid were irrevocably changed when their red Metro crashed into a telephone pole on Prior Street in 2005.

To this day, the couple has no memory of what caused the crash. Today, they still struggle with brain injuries.

Nearly a decade later, Revill and Reid got to thank the firefighters who pulled them out of the wreckage.

“They saved our lives, and we’ve always wanted to track them down and thank them,” said Reid.

Firefighter Tim Lucas, who was one of the first responders at the scene 10 years ago,  said, “It’s very gratifying. I am happy that they are alive. Again, it’s unreal that they survived that accident.”

After the reunion, an emotional Revill said she felt like a weight had been lifted off her.

“Ever since the accident, I can’t produce tears. I can’t cry physically,” she said. “I am crying though, on the inside.”
