Federal Election 2015: Bay of Quinte riding results

Summary: A new riding exclusively centred around the bay, Bay of Quinte voters will elect a rookie MP in 2015. Conservative MP Rick Norlock, who has represented Northumberland-Quinte West since 2006, is not running for re-election. Conservative MP Darryl Kramp, the member for Prince Edward-Hastings since 2004, is running in another riding.

Boundaries: Bay of Quinte includes all of the land surrounding the Bay of Quinte and Prince Edward Bay, including the cities of Belleville, Trenton, and Picton.

Last Election: In 2011, voters within the boundaries of this new riding voted 51.8 per cent Conservative, followed by 23.0 per cent NDP.

History: The two ridings that make up this new electoral district supported Liberal candidates from 1993 to 2004 because of vote splitting between the Reform Party and Progressive Conservatives, but generally have supported conservative candidates through the years.

Demographics: English is the mother tongue of 92 per cent of people, ninth highest in Ontario. And 20.1 per cent of people are are seniors, 11th highest in the province.

Conservatives: Jodie Jenkins, a one-term Belleville councillor

NDP: Terry Cassidy, Quinte West councillor for 20 years

Liberals: Neil Ellis, mayor of Belleville from 2006 to 2014

Greens: Rachel Nelems, Candidate Support Administrator for the Green Party

Independent: Trueman Tuck
