Truck driver from Alberta killed in a crash near Boston Bar

A 47-year-old truck driver from Alberta is dead after his tractor and trailer collided with a power pole on Highway 1 near Boston Bar Friday afternoon.

It appears the driver lost control of his truck while rounding a curve. The tractor and trailer then crossed over the northbound lane and collided with a power pole while continuing into a deep ditch and landing on the driver’s side.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only one in the vehicle.

Police say road conditions at the time of the crash were slippery with slushy snow conditions and poor visibility.

Traffic in the area was shut down for several hours while investigators examined the scene.
