Summary: Liberal incumbent Francis Scarpaleggia is looking to win a fifth straight term here, but he could be in for a fight. After taking the seat easily in his first three elections, the NDP surged in 2011 to finish a relatively close second. The NDP has a new candidate this year, a second-term city councillor from Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue.
Boundaries: This riding is on the west side of Montreal island. It includes the communities of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Baie-d’Urfé, Kirkland, Beaconsfield, Pierrefonds and Pointe-Claire.
Last Election: Liberal incumbent Scarpaleggia defeated NDP candidate Alain Ackad by 2,204 votes.
History: This riding has been a Liberal stronghold since 1997, with incumbent Scarpaleggia winning in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2011.
Demographics: Lac-Saint-Louis has a case as the most anglophone riding in Quebec, as English is the first language of 45.6 per cent of residents (as of the 2011 census), the highest figure in the province. It’s also has the highest median age in the province at 46.1, and has the second highest average income, at $50,582.
