RCMP looking for body of Hells Angels member in Saint-Anne-de-Madawaska

EDMUNDSTON, N.B. – The province’s top RCMP official held a news conference Friday, asking the public for any information regarding an ongoing murder investigation.

Superintendent Daniel Nowlan said they’re looking for help in locating the body of Mario Bergeron.

Bergeron, a Quebec City man known as a full patch member of the Hells Angels, went missing from the Quebec City area in April 2008.

An ongoing investigation has led police to believe Bergeron was murdered and that his remains were buried in the Saint-Anne-de-Madawaska area, about 30 kilometres east of Edmundston.

“We firmly believe Bergeron’s murder was related to organized crime and there is no threat to the general public. While we do have suspects who are involved in organized crime, at this point no charges have been laid,” Nowlan said in a release.

RCMP have been following up on leads, interviewed witnesses and conducted searches in the Saint-Anne-de-Madawaska area.

Investigators are asking anyone who might recall seeing suspicious activity in the Saint-Anne-de-Madawaska area in April 2008 to come forward. They say there may have been heavy equipment used in the disposal of the body so if anyone recalls seeing such equipment in an area that was not under construction, they should contact police.
