Federal Election 2015: Calgary Signal Hill riding results

Summary: This new riding was mainly carved out of the former Calgary West riding, which has been represented by Conservative Rob Anders since 1997. Anders lost the nomination here to Ron Liepert, the former PC Finance Minister of Alberta, who is attempting a political comeback after 3 years in the private sector.

Boundaries: This riding covers the central portion of western Calgary. It lies south of the Bow River, stretching from 37 Street SW to the city’s western boundary.

Last Election: In 2011, voters within this new riding’s boundaries voted 64.9 per cent Conservative and 15.4 per cent Liberal.

History: This part of the city has voted on the political right for decades.

Demographics: The average is income is $69,304 (as of the 2011 National Household Survey), the third highest number in Alberta and second highest in Calgary.

NDP: Khalis Ahmed, geologist
