MONTREAL – A four-year-old girl has died after she was found unconscious in a residential pool at a children’s party on Saturday.

Urgences-Santé received a call at about 4:20 p.m. about a child in distress on Chevremont Street in Île-Bizard.

When paramedics arrived on the scene, the little girl had already been pulled out of the water.

Urgences-Santé spokesperson Bill Lamle told Global News the child was not breathing when she was rescued from the pool.

The lead-up to the events are still unclear as the in-ground pool is apparently fenced-in.

The girl’s 42-year-old mother was also transported to hospital to be treated for shock.
