MONTREAL – Controversial New York rapper, Action Bronson will not be taking the stage at this year’s Osheaga festival in Montreal
Organizers of the event made the announcement Saturday via social media.
While organizers cited transportation issues for the cancellation, not everyone is upset about the last-minute changes to the musical line-up.

An online petition demanding Bronson be stopped from performing at the popular music festival garnered over 20,000 signatures, in only five days.
Rayane Zahal, the woman behind the petition, says that Bronson glorifies rape, violence against women and sexism most notably in his song “Consensual Rape.”
“Hate speech and misogynistic messages are unwanted in an event such as the Osheaga festival. We believe that the violent misogyny portrayed in his songs doesn’t match the values of our city and our community,” she said.
However, Evenko was loathe to pull the plug on the rapper saying that their role as event organizer is not to censor artists.
A similar petition launched against the rapper at Toronto’s NXNE festival earlier in June resulted in his act being pulled from the main stage and relegated to a smaller ticketed venue.
