SASKATOON – It’s a tragic start to the August long weekend for one Saskatoon family. A 16-month-old toddler is dead after he was struck by a vehicle Friday morning.
The boy was struck around 10:30 a.m. in the 100-block of Whelan Crescent.
He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Next of kin have been notified. Police will not be releasing his name.

Police say speed and alcohol are not contributing factors.
They continue to investigate.
Correction: A previous release from police incorrectly stated the child was 12 months old.
