4 sets of Manitoba twins pose double trouble at Western Canada Games

WINNIPEG – Manitoba’s opponents will be seeing double at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games in Wood Buffalo, Alta.

Beach volleyball teammates Josie and Kearley Abbott are one of four sets of twins the province will be sending to next month’s multi-sport event. The Abbotts will carry Manitoba’s flag during the opening ceremonies.

“Manitoba’s beach volleyball team has had some huge success in past games, which really speaks to the program as a whole,” said Team Manitoba Chef de Mission Ted Bigelow. “They’ve been branching out, increasing their scope and intensity and the results they’ve shown reflect that.”

The other twins competing for Manitoba are canoeists Emma and Madeline Mitchell, soccer players Riana and Kezia Gesell and track athletes Kyia and Kyanna Pingue-Giles.

A total of 300 Manitobans will compete at the Western Canada Summer Games from August. 7 to 16.
