Overnight shooting lands 1 man in hospital

MONTREAL – A 19-year-old man is in hospital following a shooting early Sunday morning.

Police received a 911 call at around 3:45 a.m. about a wounded man on Beaver Hall, between de la Gauchetière and Belmont streets.

Manuel Couture, spokesperson for Montreal police told Global News that the young man appears to have been shot after an altercation broke out between a group of people.

When officers arrived on the scene, the victim had made his own way to hospital.

The man suffered serious wounds to his upper body and remains in hospital, but police do not fear for his life.

Forensic experts are on the scene gathering evidence.

No suspects have been arrested.
