Severe weather in southern Alberta abating

CALGARY — Environment Canada dropped more severe thunderstorm watches and warnings early Saturday evening.

This, after regions north of Calgary had tornado watches for much of the afternoon.

By early evening, a severe thunderstorm warning remained in effect for:

  • Lloydminster, Wainwright, Vermilion and Provost.

And there was just one warning – in:

The daily email you need for 's top news stories.
  • Leduc, Camrose, Wetaskiwin and Tofield.

All other watches and warnings were dropped.

More unsettled weather remains in the forecast for Sunday.

Calgary is forecast to be mainly sunny, but with increasing cloudiness in the afternoon and a 60 percent chance of showers late in the afternoon.

There’s also a risk of a thunderstorm early Sunday evening.
