Security camera footage shows the man calmly lying length-wise on the train tracks, moments before the train passes over him.
Police say the driver of the train slammed on the brakes when he saw the man, but was unable to halt the train in time. Luckily for him and the unidentified man, the train passed over his body without injuring him – despite the rails being only five inches high.
According to police, the 83-year-old man doesn’t remember why he lay down on the tracks, or what it was like to be mere millimeters from the underside of a train.
There were a reported 80 passengers aboard during the incident, but none were injured.
