WINNIPEG — Get ready to build. Manitoba’s first Lego store is now open at Polo Park.

A team from the company, including Lego master builder Paul Chrzan, is in town for the next three days to build an eight-foot-tall replica of Yoda. Once it is completed on Sunday, the team will dismantle it.

Chrzan, the first master builder from Denmark, has been with the company for 25 years.

“I saw an ad in the paper one day for a model builder and that’s kind of how it started,” he said.

Chrzan, 53, is one of only seven Lego master builders in the world.

“Once you’ve learnt everything you can and built everything that you can, you work up to being a master builder.”

He even had the opportunity to work on the Lego Movie — he was responsible for the character Emmet.

“I was there for the whole movie shoot. I got to show Will Ferrell how to break things and he’s a great guy,” he said. “It was the best thing I ever did.”

The Polo Park store opened on July 3 but its grand opening celebration is this weekend. It’s the 10th Lego store in Canada and the 88th in North America.
