Saskatoon-based Draganfly bought by U.S. company

SASKATOON – One of Canada’s most successful drone companies has a new owner. Saskatoon-based Draganfly Innovations has been acquired by a California developer.

Trace Live Networks announced it is taking over Draganfly, which is the longest-running manufacturer of multi-rotor helicopters in the world.

Trace officials said Draganfly’s headquarters will remain in Saskatoon, and no jobs will be affected.

The California company said it hopes it can work with the Draganfly team to ramp-up production, particularly in the areas of auto-follow devices and live streaming.

Draganfly Innovations was also credited with creating the first civilian drone to save a person’s life.

The company’s founder, Zenon Dragan, will continue to lead operations in Saskatoon.
