WINNIPEG – The barricades are back on four streets that turn into bike routes on Sundays.

For years, barricades were used to help keep vehicles off the designated routes. This spring the city stopped putting them out, opting for street signs instead.

People living in the areas said that made the stretches unsafe, as vehicles were able to drive one block on each of the four roads.

City Councillors voted Wednesday to bring the barricades back.

Sunday morning, city crews were out, placing barricades on the four bike route streets, including Wellington crescent, Lyndale Drive, Wolseley Avenue, Scotia Street.
