WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Police admit they have “little to go on” in the search for a woman missing nearly a week.

“We are really grasping at straws right now,” said Constable Eric Hofley with the Winnipeg Police Service.

Thelma Krull disappeared after going for a walk in the East Kildonan area last Saturday.

“I expect her any day to come walking through that door and say ‘momma’s home’, that’s just want I want right now,” said Bob Krull, Thelma’s husband.

Krull is emotionally exhausted but desperate to know what happened to his wife.

“She’s alive, she’s out there that’s all I’m going to concentrate on,” said an emotional Krull Friday from his home in Harbourview South.

The 57-year old grandmother hasn’t been seen for seven days and while she remains a missing person, Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.

Friday, officers released a photo of a couple that was biking near the Valley Gardens Community Centre at 8:00 a.m Saturday morning. They’re not suspects but possible witnesses and might help investigators find out what happened to Thelma.

“We’re quite confident Thelma was there around 8:00 a.m. on Saturday but we don’t know the circumstances,” said Hofley, “Did you see someone who appeared to be in distress and really not thought something of it?”

“I’m at the point we’ve searched everything we can,” said Krull, who has been out searching for days.

By Friday, there were just small groups of friends and family still searching for Thelma or any clues while police have completed their intense search of backyards around the community centre.

Thelma was captured on her neighbour, Tony Duddrindge’s home surveillance camera Saturday leaving for her hike at 7:23 a.m.

“We started looking at our cameras and sure enough we could see her,” said Duddrindge, “people are kind of in shock, everybody’s in shock they’ve taken it quiet hard.”

Tuesday, Thelma’s glasses were found at the Valley Gardens Community Centre, but since then the trail has gone cold.

“We just haven’t given up, we keep going,” said Krull.

The people closest to her won’t give up, until they have answers and ask that Winnipeggers don’t stop looking either.

“Keep looking don’t give up on her,” said friend Connie Muscat, “we’re not giving up on her and it’s not just because we are family and friends it’s because we believe she’s out there and needs our help.”

Meantime, Thelma’s friends and family have planned a 3 kilometer Help Light the Way Home for Thelma’ walk Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. They’re asking people to meet near the hill behind Kildonan East Collegiate and walk to Filbert Crescent where Krull lives. Winnipeg transit will return people back to the community centre after. Donations to help continue the search are welcome.
