SASKATOON – A man has been charged for swimming across the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon. It’s the second time in less than a week a person has been arrested for swimming across the river.
Police were called to the river around 4 p.m. Wednesday near the 600-block of Spadina Crescent for a report a man was seen swimming in the river.
He made it across to the other side where he was greeted by police.
Once he was checked by paramedics from MD Ambulance, he was arrested and charged under a city bylaw that makes it illegal to swim in the river within city limits.

Last Friday, a man and a woman were arrested and charged for swimming across the river near the 900-block of Spadina Crescent East.
Police say along with it being prohibited under city bylaws, swimming in the South Saskatchewan River is extremely dangerous.
