TORONTO — Canadian actress Tatiana Maslany was nominated Thursday for a Primetime Emmy Award in recognition of her work in the Toronto-shot series Orphan Black.
It is the first Emmy nomination for the 29-year-old Regina native, who has won two consecutive Canadian Screen Awards as well as a pair of Critics’ Choice Television Awards and nominations at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Maslany was the only Canadian to earn a nomination in the top acting categories at this year’s Emmys. She is up against Claire Danes (Homeland), Viola Davis (How to Get Away With Murder), Taraji P. Henson (Empire), Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) and Robin Wright (House of Cards) in the Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series category.
Maslany took to Twitter to thank her fans.
Michael J. Fox is nominated in the Guest Actor category for The Good Wife.
The other Canadians who earned Emmy nods are Toronto’s Jeremy Podeswa (for directing an episode of Game of Thrones), Calgary’s Semi Chellas (for writing in Mad Men), and Jeff and Mychael Danna (for music in the pilot episode of Tyrant).
Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan) and Kevin Spacey (House of Cards) are competing for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series.
Comedy nominees are Edie Falco, Lisa Kudrow, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Amy Poehler, Amy Schumer, Lily Tomlin, Anthony Anderson, Louis C.K., Don Cheadle, Will Forte, Matt LeBlanc, William H. Macy and Jeffrey Tambor.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama nominees are: Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey), Lena Headey and Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black) and Christine Baranski (The Good Wife). Outstanding Actor nods went to Jonathan Banks (Better Call Saul), Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline), Jim Carter (Downton Abbey), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Michael Kelly (House of Cards) and Alan Cumming (The Good Wife).
Better Call Saul, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Homeland, House of Cards, Mad Men and Orange is the New Black are vying for Outstanding Drama while Louie, Modern Family, Parks and Recreation, Silicon Valley, Transparent, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Veep are battling in the Comedy category.
Nominations in 11 categories for the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced in Los Angeles by Orange is the New Black star Uzo Aduba and So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deeley.

The Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Andy Samberg, will be broadcast live on Sept. 20.
