EDMONTON – Alberta’s Wildrose party is promising more money and more autonomy for municipalities.
Party leader Danielle Smith says it’s time to stop forcing municipalities to go begging to the province for a new road or hospital.

She says the Wildrose would direct 10 per cent of all provincial tax revenues to municipalities with no strings attached.
Another 10 per cent of any budget surpluses would also go to cities and towns.
The promises are part of the party’s rollout of its election platform.
Premier Alison Redford’s Progressive Conservatives are promising more than $2 billion for municipalities this year.
