REGINA – Regina police are urging drivers to be cautious after a strange incident involving eggs in south Regina Wednesday night.

At around 11:00 p.m. a vehicle driving in the 1900 block of Grant Dr. had eggs thrown at its windshield. When the vehicle tried to stop the suspects advanced on the vehicle and tried to open the doors. Ultimately, the driver was able to flee the area safely and report the incident to police.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

While similar incidents have been reported on social media in the past (and have at times been debunked as urban legends), police say this is the first time they’ve received a verified report.

Though there is nothing to suggest this is anything but an isolated incident, police suggest that if drivers do encounter a similar situation that they stay inside their vehicles with the doors locked and call 911. Drivers are also encouraged not to turn on their windshield wipers as the egg could smear causing further visibility issues.
