Ailing Joni Mitchell has made ‘remarkable progress’: lawyer

TORONTO — Joni Mitchell is home and expected to make “a full recovery” after suffering an aneurysm in March.

According to court documents obtained by People, court-appointed lawyer Rebecca J. Thyne visited the Canadian singer at her L.A. home on June 26.

“When I arrived she was seated at her kitchen table feeding herself lunch,” Thyne wrote.

“It was clear that she was happy to be home and that she has made remarkable progress.”

Mitchell was hospitalized at the end of March after reportedly being found unconscious in her home.

Weeks later, UCLA Medical Center physician Paul Vespa indicated in a court filing that the 71-year-old “lacks the capacity to give informed consent in any form of medical treatment.”

Thyne reported that Mitchell receives daily physical therapy and “excellent care from caregivers round-the-clock.”

The lawyer recommended that the “Big Yellow Taxi” singer’s longtime friend Leslie Morris be appointed her conservator. Morris was given temporary conservatorship in May.
