Sister holding out hope that brother is alive

VERNON — The family of a Lethbridge man believed to have drowned in Kalamalka Lake is still holding out hope that he’ll be found alive.

Curtis Wilson vanished last week. His friend Shane Letkeman, 32, was found dead in Kalamalka Lake. Police do not suspect foul play.

Wilson’s sister has come from Grande Prairie to help in the search for her brother.

“We’ve been coming out here every day — for comfort — just to be out here,” says Shanna Wilson.

She says coming to the Okanagan offers some degree of comfort.

“There’s not a whole lot we can do here but for some reason it feels better being here where Curtis was last seen. If he’s found, we want to be here,” says Wilson.

Despite the RCMP’s search of the lake, Wilson says there’s always a possibility that her brother left the area.

“I just want people to keep looking because there’s still the possibility that he’s somewhere.”

RCMP were using sonar in the search for Wilson’s body. They didn’t find anything Monday. It’s not clear if they’ll resume the search.
