MABEL LAKE – A crowd gathered on the shore of Mabel Lake today to celebrate the official opening of the new Mable Lake Marina. The new 260 slip concrete marina replaces a much smaller facility.
“This marina was probably only 30 slips beforehand and back five years ago we were told that it did not meet regulations so therefore it was suggested to us…that we had to build a new one,” says Terry Laursen, who owns Mabel Lake Holiday Centre Ltd along with his brother.
“At first you don’t like that news and eventually you try to deal with it and that is what we’ve done,” says Laursen.
In addition to the marina, the Laursen brother’s company also owns the nearby resort, airpark and golf club.
The new larger facility earned positive reviews from those that had come to watch the official opening.
