Paramedics say he was treated for injuries and remains in stable condition.

A witness told Global News police had initially searched her home looking for the suspect.

“They thought he came into our house and we had four or five or six cops with giant guns search our entire house this morning,” said resident Jennifer Beer.

Beer said police later found the suspect a few metres away hidden under a neighbour’s back porch.

Another witness said she was walking her dogs when she witnessed the crash and police chase.

“I heard a loud crash, I saw a pole fall down and police cars going around the corner and then they came back,” she said. “I started to walk towards it and then I saw the policemen get out of their cars with guns and I left.”
