SASKATOON – The city of Saskatoon is warning residents about a new phone scam. Customers are receiving calls from someone claiming to represent the city and saying utilities will be disconnected if a payment is not received.

The individual may also ask for credit card or bank information.

City officials say they do not take that type of information over the phone. Notices regarding outstanding utility balances are sent in the mail and an automated dialer is used to remind customers to contact corporate revenue before utilities services are impacted.

Customers are asked to report suspicious calls to the city at 306-975-2400 or Saskatoon police at 306-975-8300.
