TORONTO – A Toronto man has been charged after he allegedly placed a for-rent ad on Kijiji and sexual assaulted a woman in Scarborough last week.
The alleged incident occurred on June 25 when an 18-year-old woman responded to the advertisement and was subsequently sexually assaulted during the encounter.
Police say the ad was placed on June 14 for a room rental in his condominium in the Kennedy Rd. and McNicoll Ave. area.
During the visit, police say the suspect offered alcoholic drinks and marijuana to the female victim.
Afterwards, the woman was escorted out of the building and was led to an area where she was sexually assaulted.
The accused has been identified as 20-year-old Irfan Virji and has been charged with one count of sexual assault.
Police believe there may be more victims and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
The suspect is scheduled to make a court appearance on August 5.
