SASKATOON – This summer’s Canada Remembers Our Heroes air show in July will feature a memorial tribute. For the first time in Canada, the “9/11 Never Forget” mobile exhibit will make a stop in Saskatoon.
The 53-foot tractor trailer unfolds into a 1,000 square-foot exhibit and serves as an emotional reminder of events that took place on Sept. 11, 2001.
“It has photos and audio recordings, video footage of 9/11 … people will be able to walk through and basically it’s hosted by two New York City fire department personnel,” said Brian Swidrovich, Canada Remembers volunteer director.

“It’s one thing to watch it on TV and to watch documentaries but talk to someone face to face that was actually there and experience it … I think it’s going to be an incredible experience here.”

For each American city the exhibit travels to, a formal escort is led by emergency services and the members of the military as a sign of respect. This will also be the case here in Saskatchewan.
“It brings forward the dedication, service and sacrifice that all emergency responders have given and historically, it is not just a singular event … it is something that continues to go on,” said Saskatoon Fire Department Chief Dan Paulsen.
The mobile unit will enter Ontario from New York and make its way to Saskatchewan where RCMP will escort it to the legislature in Regina. Saskatoon police will pick it up from there and lead it to the air show.
Canada Remembers Our Heroes runs July 11 and 12 at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway.
