TORONTO — Adam Scott is the first to admit he comes up short in The Overnight, a comedy that has people buzzing over its plethora of full frontal male nudity.
“My character has some body issues, I guess you could say,” the 42-year-old actor explained Monday during a stop in Toronto to promote the film.
In The Overnight, Scott plays a married father who refuses to go skinny dipping because he doesn’t quite measure up to his new friend, played by Jason Schwartzman.
But, he’s soon convinced to let it all hang out.
“It’s really interesting, you don’t really see a lot of male body issues dealt with in movies,” Scott said on Global’s The Morning Show.
“Our writer-director Patrick Brice really hits it head-on but he does it in a funny way.”

(Scott has previously insisted both he and Schwartzman wore prosthetics for the nude scenes.)
Scott is also an executive producer of the comedy, which earned critical acclaim when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
He and Taylor Schilling play a couple who move to Los Angeles with their young son (R.J. Hermes) and meet a couple (Schwartzman and Judith Godrèche) with a son of their own (Max Moritt) who invite them to a family play date that becomes much more.
“Once the kids go to bed they convince us to hang out for awhile,” Scott explained. “Our marriage is questioned, we question ourselves and our place in the world.
“We have no idea that this is going to be the most important night of our lives.”
The indie flick, which is out in limited release, opened with an impressive $62,000 on only three screens.
Scott is well known for playing Ben Wyatt on Parks and Recreation, which wrapped up its seven-season run in February.
“We all miss each other,” he said of the show’s cast. “We miss the show but we’re in close contact. I think around August is when we usually go back to work — that’s when we’re all going to feel it.”
On The Morning Show, Scott also talked about the success of the podcast he does with Scott Aukerman, U Talkin’ U2 To Me?.
“We get, like, half a million people downloading it every time we put up an episode,” he said, “which is ridiculous because it’s just two idiots screwing around.”
Has he heard from U2?
“Our next episode… we answer that question,” he said. “Scott would kill me if I told the story now.”
