CALGARY – There are plenty of ways to celebrate Canada Day in Calgary this year.
Here’s a look at some of the events:
Prince’s Island Park
- First Nations Powwow
10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Bow Valley College’s Iniikokaan Aboriginal Centre presents a free powwow featuring drumming and dancing. - Canada Day at Eau Claire Market
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Free ice cream for the first 1,000 guest and entertainment including a magic show, jugglers and dancers. - Food truck roundup
11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Grab a bite to eat from a selection of food trucks featuring a range of ethnically diverse cuisines. (Located between the YMCA and Eau Claire Market.) - Living Flag
11 a.m. to noon
A group of 3,000 people gather together in red and white tshirts to form a living flag.
Riverfront Avenue
- Riverfront Festivities
12 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Events along Riverfront Avenue begin at noon and finish with a stage show featuring rising synth-rockers Dear Rouge, Dan Mangan + Blacksmith and Stars.

Fireworks
- Fireworks on the on Centre Street Bridge

The 2015 Canada Day fireworks display will be presented from the Centre Street Bridge. The show will be synchronized with music, broadcast live on Kool 101.5 and 95.3 The Peak. A free fireworks shuttle will run between SAIT and McHugh Bluff Park from 6 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. Pay parking is available at SAIT, however Calgarians are encouraged to take the CTrain to meet the shuttle.- Festival Market (between Eau Claire market and the YMCA)

Harry the Horse is turning 30! Visit Olympic Plaza to celebrate his special day — and Canada’s birthday too! Birthday cake will be made available at 1:30 p.m.
Chinatown
- Chinatown Fest
3 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of Chinatown during the second Chinatown Fest, hosted by the Calgary Chinese Merchants Association.

Prairie Winds Park
- Celebrate Canada
11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Celebrate Canada is an initiative of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamā’at (AMJ) Calgary. Thousands of Calgarians from different diverse communities. The event includes the singing of the national anthem and a flag hoisting.
East Village
- East Village Street Fair
9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Celebrate Canada Day with family fun at the Village Street Fair, featuring a classic car show.
Fort Calgary
- Canada Day at Fort Calgary
9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Enjoy a free pancake breakfast, live entertainment, children’s crafts and a petting zoo.
