Emergency crews were called to the collision on Highway 831 and Township Road 550, in Lamont County, around 2:33 a.m. Friday.

RCMP said the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was found dead inside the vehicle. Three passengers were taken to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton where they were treated and released.

Police believe the vehicle was heading east on Township Road 550 when it lost control, skidded and rolled into the northeast ditch of Highway 831.

Alcohol appears to be a factor, RCMP said Saturday in a media release.

The victim’s identity is not being released.

RCMP ask anyone who may have seen the collision to contact the Fort Saskatchewan detachment at 780-992-6100.
