VANCOUVER – Twenty-two-year-old Arun Bains was gunned down in Surrey on April 19, just hours after shots were fired near 126 Street and 88A Avenue.
Bains, who is the nephew of Surrey-Newton NDP MLA Harry Bains, had associations with the people involved in the ongoing conflict responsible for the majority of the shootings in Surrey and North Delta since early March, police say.

He was shot while driving his car through a residential neighbourhood.
“People out there have that information,” said Surrey RCMP Sgt. Dale Carr. “Families have that information. Before another young man, or a young person, is killed, we need you to start coming forward.”
Police say the numerous incidents in Surrey and Delta stem from a potential gang turf war related to the street-level drug trade. Most involve shots fired from moving vehicles and the combatants show no regard for public safety.
Bains left behind a family that loved him. If you know anything about his death or the other gang-related shootings in the Surrey and Delta areas, call police.
