Edmonton Police searching for missing 42-year-old man

EDMONTON — Police and search and rescue crews were scouring an area of southwest Edmonton on Sunday, hoping to find something that might explain the disappearance of an Edmonton man.

Police believe Dwayne Demkiw, 42, was last seen Sunday, May 31, 2015 leaving his workplace near 149 Street and 128 Avenue around 4 a.m., which police said was his regular time to get off work.

Demkiw’s Facebook profile lists his current employment as a DJ at Saint Pete’s Exotic Show Bar, but when contacted by Global News, the owner said Demkiw worked there in the past but was was not currently employed there.

Five hours after he was last seen, Demkiw’s vehicle was found by police in Calgary. The vehicle, a black, four-door, 2002 Acura 3.2 TL, was located in the city’s southeast, at 86 Avenue SE and Bonaventure Drive SE.

He was reported missing later that afternoon. The Calgary Police Service is assisting EPS with the missing person investigation.

Police said there are concerns for Dwayne Demkiw’s well-being, because the disappearance is out of character.

On Sunday afternoon people driving on Anthony Henday Drive may have spotted police activity between the Cameron Heights/184 Street and Lessard Road overpasses, where a proactive search of the area was carried out. Search and rescue crews could be seen near the Wedgewood Creek ravine.

Demkiw is described as a bald, Caucasian male. Demkiw may have been wearing the clothing seen in the photograph above at the time of his disappearance.

Police are looking to speak anyone who may have information about Demkiw’s disappearance and his vehicle.
