UPDATE: All advisories mentioned in this story have ended

SASKATOON – Frost advisories have been issued for Prince Albert, Meadow Lake, Melfort, Humboldt, Regina and other parts of central and southeastern Saskatchewan Friday night into Saturday morning. Environment Canada says frost may damage some crops in frost-prone areas.

The combination of clear skies and a cold airmass will result in temperatures falling below the freezing mark overnight causing patchy frost across the region.

On Friday morning, much of the region was also under a frost warning with many areas flipping a few degrees below freezing.

Crop damage may occur in frost-prone areas.

Environment Canada recommends taking preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.

Frost advisories are issued by Environment Canada when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.
