74 charges laid in multiple Saskatoon break and enters

SASKATOON – Three people are facing numerous charges after a string of break and enters. Saskatoon police say 26 businesses were broken into between March 2 and May 19.

Investigators said the thieves usually gained entry to the businesses by smashing windows or glass doors. They then made off with cash or safes.

A getaway vehicle was identified and police believed stolen plates were being placed on the vehicle before each break and enter.

On Wednesday evening, officers stopped the vehicle and arrested a man and woman. Police say the vehicle had stolen plates and stolen property was found inside.

The pair appeared in court Thursday on possession of stolen property charges and were re-arrested following their release. A third person was also taken into custody.

Police then executed search warrants at home on Leif Erickson Place and a Pontiac Montana as part of the investigation.

A 34-year-old man is facing 23 break and enter charges, eight of theft under $5,000 and a single charge of possession of stolen property.

A 37-year-old woman is facing 22 break and enter changes and eight of theft under $5,000.

A 32-year-old woman is facing 5 charges of break and enter and eight of theft under $5,000.

The trio are scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Friday.
