Pair charged in ‘staged’ Saskatoon armed robbery

SASKATOON – Two people have been charged in what Saskatoon police say was a “staged” armed robbery. On Sunday, a man entered the Homesense store at the Stonegate Shopping Centre and gave a note to a cashier demanding cash.

He had what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband. The man then fled with an undetermined amount of money.

Police say their investigation determined the robbery was staged.

A 20-year-old employee of the store has been charged with mischief with intent to mislead police.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with armed robbery.

Both are scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Tuesday.
