The carver created a unique ceremonial convocation suite. Made up with two massive chairs and a bentcorner box designed to hold degree parchments, it contains 22 unique images – each inspired by time Vickers spent at the university recently, observing students and the culture on campus.
The suite was made with old-growth cedar, dating back more than 600 years.
“It has witnessed our history, and through this gift to the university, they found their new purpose.”
Students at Vancouver Island University will see the work as they cross the stage at their convocation next week.
