Police arrested 25-year-old Healy on Feb. 14, using tips from the public to track him down. Police allege the two met on Feb. 10 and spent the evening together traveling to various parts of the city on the CTrain. They got off the train at Whitehorn Station just before midnight.
Police believe Echoes Baptiste was then attacked and dragged into a nearby yard, where she was sexually assaulted and later died of her injuries. Her body wasn’t discovered until about 36 hours later.

“It was a very violent scene,” said Staff Sgt. Colin Chisholm at a February press conference. “We’re hoping that she didn’t suffer for a long period of time.”
On Tuesday, a preliminary inquiry date was set for the week of Nov. 2.
Echoes Baptiste’s brother yelled, “Damn rapist,” as Healy was taken out of the CCTV room, while her boyfriend yelled, “Plead guilty, you b—.”
Healy remains in custody.
