SASKATOON – Campers looking for sites near Saskatoon will have more options in 2016 – 63 to be exact. The Saskatchewan government announced Monday Blackstrap provincial park will be expanding.
The new campsites will all be electrified, and ten of those will be full-service with water and sewer hook ups. Only 12 of the current 80 campgrounds have electricity.
A new service centre, access road, RV sewage disposal and water, wastewater and electrical distribution systems are also part of the plan.
“This investment will provide a greater opportunity for visitors to experience the exceptional recreation activities available at Blackstrap Provincial Park,” said Mark Docherty, Saskatchewan’s minister of parks, culture and recreation.

The new campground service centre will provide campers with washroom and shower facilities.
Work on the $2.9-million expansion is scheduled to start immediately and is expected to be completed by the summer of 2016.
