EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos have partnered with Strathcona County to encourage students to become more active.

The Active Eskimos program will aim at getting students in Grades 3-8 to be active for at least 60 minutes a day.

“We’re thrilled to be the first to partner with the Edmonton Eskimos to offer a program that fits perfectly with our mission to encourage active and healthy lifestyle choices in our community,” says Sherwood Park Mayor Roxanne Carr.

The Eskimos believe the improved health benefits from the program will result in students experiencing an increased self-esteem and energy, as well as reduced stress.

“We believe that a strong balance in life is essential to the well-being of our young population,” says Len Rhodes, Eskimos president and CEO.

The Active Eskimos Challenge will take place between August 31 and October 2. Three classes will win tickets to an Eskimos home game on October 17 against the B.C. Lions.
