Driver killed in rollover northeast of Calgary

CALGARY – One person was killed in a rollover northeast of Calgary on Thursday night.

It happened just before midnight on Range Road 284 and Highway 566, east of CrossIron Mills.

Emergency crews arrived to find a pickup truck which had left the road and come to rest in a field wedged between several bales of hay.

RCMP are still investigating how the truck ended up in the field.

“It is an unusual accident,” said Monty Armstrong with the Rocky View County Fire Department. “Not something we attend everyday… but he was in the field with some speed to get on top of the hay bales.”

The driver was the lone occupant in the truck at the time of the rollover.
