WATCH: A huge night for U2 fans as the band kicked off its world tour in Vancouver – some of them following the rockers all the way from their native Ireland. Asa Rehman reports.
Thousands packed Rogers Arena Thursday as Irish rockers U2 kicked off their Innocence + Experience tour.
Many travelled from far and wide for the first of two Vancouver shows.
Eoin recently moved to Vancouver from Ireland and his brother-in-law from the Emerald Isle figured a U2 concert would be a perfect reason to visit.
The two lads were expecting another person to join them. When he couldn’t make it, they gave the ticket away to a lucky stranger outside the stadium.
In an interview with Rock 101 earlier in the day, the band heaped praise on the city of Vancouver.
“Here in this city, we feel very free,” said frontman Bono. “And I like to get out of the city and I go wandering, I go cycling, you know. I get lost around here, and I like getting lost in B.C.”
