Okanagan water skier’s death ruled accidental

KELOWNA – The B.C. Coroner’s office has ruled the death of an Okanagan water skier as accidental.

46-year-old Brenda Lee Roine was water skiing on Sugar Lake near Cherryville in July, 2014 when she suddenly fell and went unconscious in the water.  The Coldstream woman, who was an experienced skier, was slalom skiing behind a boat operated by her husband and daughter.

The Coroner’s report reveals that Roine died of a cervical spinal fracture from the fall.

Her family tried to resuscitate her on shore but efforts failed.
