SALMON ARM — It was a busy Wednesday night in Salmon Arm where officials dealt with a bizarre crash, a house fire and smash and grab at a local liquor store.
The crash happened at around 8 p.m. when an elderly man smashed his car into a neighbour’s home on 22 St. NE.
RCMP say the driver inadvertently reversed at a high rate of speed from his driveway before crashing into the neighbour’s home across the street.

The driver and occupants of the home were not injured.
A few hours later, a house caught fire on 15th Avenue SE.
Firefighters couldn’t save the home and it was completely destroyed.
The four occupants escaped unharmed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but is not considered suspicious.
Finally, Salmon Arm RCMP are investigating a smash-and-grab at a liquor store on 30 Street SW where the front door was smashed.
They say the crooks got away with some liquor.
The incident happened at around midnight Wednesday.
