Sask. provincial parks set to open for 2015 season

REGINA – Campers get ready. Saskatchewan provincial parks will open on May 14 for what officials say will be a busy 2015 season.

“Our parks are very popular and we know that our campers are itching to get out and enjoy this beautiful spring weather,” said Mark Docherty, Saskatchewan’s minister of parks, culture and sport.

As is the case each year, there will be an alcohol ban in all campgrounds and picnic areas from May 14-18 inclusive. The ban covers all provincial park and recreation sites, along with several regional parks.

The ban does not affect cottages and commercial businesses located within provincial parks.

A number of parks may have reduced services this early in the season and some may be under precautionary drinking water advisories as water lines are prepared for the season. As well, some lakes may also not be ice-free.

Officials say it is best to check ahead for what services will be available.
