WATCH: JetBlue sends Rochester-bound passenger to Barbados

U.S. airline JetBlue has seen its share of controversy after it made headlines for refusing to let a toddler use the bathroom, and for kicking an 18-month-old baby off its flight.

Add Azizgul Hussainzada’s ordeal to the list.

The woman was in California visiting her daughter last week and was headed home to Rochester, New York. Her flight itinerary included a stop in New York City’s JFK airport.

Hussainzada, who doesn’t speak English, asked for assistance and JetBlue staff directed her onto a flight headed to Barbados without a passport or boarding pass.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

According to her son Noorullah Maqsoodi, she thought she had landed in a much sunnier and warmer Rochester than she remembered.

Her luggage and family were all waiting for her in Rochester, but Hussainzada was in a completely different country.

Maqsoodi claims JetBlue told him his mother was waiting for her connecting flight at JFK.

When Hussainzada’s true location was finally found, Maqsoodi panicked because he knew his mother didn’t have her diabetes medication with her.

She eventually made her way home, but her family remains upset and perplexed by the incident. They also say they are still waiting for an apology.

“What’s really puzzling is the fact that she didn’t have a boarding pass and how she managed to get on an international flight and fly out of the country,” said Maqsoodi.

In a statement to 13 WHAM News, JetBlue said they have refunded the family and are investigating how it all happened.
