CALGARY – Police say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in a rollover on Crowchild Trail that seriously injured four people on Tuesday.
The crash happened near the 50th Avenue S.W. interchange around 11:30 p.m.
Police say a 2003 BMW 540i was traveling southbound when the driver lost control. The car went off the road, becoming airborne and rolling before come to a rest on the boulevard just off Crowchild Trail.

Four people were in the car at the time of the crash.
The driver, a 21-year-old man, was thrown from the car – along with a man in his 20’s. Another man in his 20’s and a woman in her 20’s were trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters.
All four victims were rushed to hospital by EMS; two men remain in potentially life-threatening condition, while another man and woman are in serious condition.
The crash caused the closure of Crowchild Trail for several hours.
